I'm delighted to share that THE BEST BAD THINGS is the winner of the 2019 Shamus Award for the Best First PI Novel! Thank you to the Private Eye Writers of America for this honor, and congratulations to the other winners and nominees!

I am delighted to announce that THE BEST BAD THINGS is a 2019 Washington State Book Awards finalist! My publisher MCD/Farrar, Straus and Giroux has three books in the awards this year -- I'm so happy for Nicola Griffith and Kristi Coulter, who are finalists as well! Come celebrate with us at the awards ceremony, which will be Saturday, October 12, at the Seattle Central Library. Congratulations to all the 2019 finalists!

I will be reading at The Center for Fiction in Brooklyn, NY, as part of a 2019 Lambda Literary Awards event! Join me and my fellow writers David Jackson Ambrose, Nona Caspers, Jennifer Natalya Fink, and Emily Strelow for an evening celebrating LQBTQ+ fiction. The reading starts at 7:00 and is free and open to the public. More event details can be found here.
