I am delighted to announce that THE BEST BAD THINGS is a 2019 Washington State Book Awards finalist! My publisher MCD/Farrar, Straus and Giroux has three books in the awards this year -- I'm so happy for Nicola Griffith and Kristi Coulter, who are finalists as well! Come celebrate with us at the awards ceremony, which will be Saturday, October 12, at the Seattle Central Library. Congratulations to all the 2019 finalists!

I will be reading at The Center for Fiction in Brooklyn, NY, as part of a 2019 Lambda Literary Awards event! Join me and my fellow writers David Jackson Ambrose, Nona Caspers, Jennifer Natalya Fink, and Emily Strelow for an evening celebrating LQBTQ+ fiction. The reading starts at 7:00 and is free and open to the public. More event details can be found here.

Please join me on beautiful Orcas Island for the 2019 literary festival! I will be reading as part of the Lit Walk (Friday, April 5), and part of the panel "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" (Saturday, April 6). Here's a bit about the festival: "[OILF's] mission is to bring together renowned authors and avid readers for three days of panels, readings, and events that highlight our vibrant literary culture. This year’s lineup includes award-winning authors and exciting new voices. Check out oilf.org for details and tickets!"
