Kellogg Writing Awards 2015

"The Fields" received the 2015 Tom and Phyllis Burnam Graduate Fiction Scholarship, judged by Sarah Gerkensmeyer.

Ms. Gerkensmeyer's judge's notes: “This is such a stunningly complicated and moving story. And yet it’s the simple, tactile details that immediately pulled me in. I was able to eventually grasp and experience the searing grief and extraordinary atrocities in this story because first the author welcomed me in with the ordinary and the seemingly mundane ... then there was no turning back. Excruciatingly beautiful.”
